Linen Chest in Cedar

The client wanted somewhere to store bed linens and blankets. I took along a variety of wood samples and they decided on cedar, due to the beautiful smell. I advised this was a great choice for soft furnishings as cedar is also an insect repellent making it resistant to moths.

The chest has an inset base and the sides are joined with finger joints, making it strong and aesthetic. There is a decorative lid with a rebated underside to allow for tactile opening. I added a lid stay so the lid could be held up while things are being stored or unloaded. The fittings were all solid brass, adding to the high quality feel.
